Google MapUp Islamabad was held on 7th June 2011 at FAST-NU Islamabad campus. This event was the first one in the series of events organised by Google Map Maker community team and Advocates for Pakistan. More than 55 individuals from different field of professions joined to learn the basics and some of them shared their experience of mapping at Google Map Maker. After a successful and thrilling mapping event at FAST-NU, Lahore last year, now is the time for a series of mapping events to engage more users from Pakistan. In this series, events are organised at three large cities of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi on 7th June, 9th June and 11th June respectively. Google’s Lahore mapping party was held on 3rd January 2010 at FAST-NU Lahore campus. The event provided a detailed introduction, usability aspects of Google Map Maker along with celebrating the achievements in developing the map of Pakistan from a blank space to what we use today. Google Map Maker was launched in June 2008 and since then users from Pakistan and diaspora made number of valuable contributions and change the blank map of Pakistan at Google Maps to what we are able to see and use today.
